AS THE impetus to reconstruct global affairs
gathers pace, emerging economies and Africa
are now exploring new models and approaches
towards a more equitable and inclusive system
that promotes sustainable socio-economic development.
Emerging economies, comprising Brazil,
Russia, India, China and South Africa (commonly
referred to as the BRICS) reaffirmed this
shared goal towards global development,
equality and cooperation during the 5th BRICS
Summit held in Durban, South Africa in late
March.
THE ESTABLISHMENT of
transfrontier conservation
areas is one of the key initiatives
for the sustainable
management of natural resources
in the Zambezi
River Basin.
SOUTHERN AFRICA and
the European Union have
made a commitment to
strengthen cooperation in various
socio-economic areas to
promote development in the
two regions.
