The INTERAISE database seeks to identify and locate key national and natural resource assessment documents and to make this body of information accessible to users -- from researchers, non-governmental organisations, universities to policy planners.
The database contains abstracts and bibliographic information for the major natural resource and environmental studies prepared on and or by the southern African countries since 1985. All materials documented in this database are housed at IMERCSA.
You can search for the following elements in the databases:
You can search for two terms at the same time, using the operators "AND" (to find only records which contain both search terms) or "OR" (to find records containing any of those terms)
Search terms can be truncated with the asterisk *, e.g. with forestry* you would also find the indexing terms "forestry resources", "forestry management", etc.
Please note that search terms are automatically truncated after 30 letters.
When you
click the "INDEX" button or press the "ENTER" key, the searchable
terms in the database will be displayed. The number in brackets indicates how often the
term occurs in the database, e.g. gender (3), means that gender occurs 3 times in this
database. It is useful to use this option to see how terms are indexed, e.g. authors are
indexed are under the surname, followed by a comma, and then the first name or initials,
e.g. Wilson, Yule. The button "INDEX" changes to "(...more/reset)".
Click it to reset to search for another word, or click on the last entry in the index with
"(...more)" to get further entries in the index. When using the "INDEX'
button, enter at least 3 characters to strart your search in the index of the database.
