NGUGI WA MIRII - We will continue to draw inspiration from his life and vision, his creativitiy, dedication and energy.
The author and activist Ngugi wa Mirii, who died in a car accident in Harare on 2 May was a dynamic facilitator and motivational speaker who used his abilities to contribute to the development of Zimbabwe, Kenya and Africa over the past 25 years, especially in arts and culture, community theatre, and media. "His dedication, commitment and clarity have been an inspiration which we expected to rely on for some years to come," SARDC said in a statement. "Ngugi's untimely death has robbed us of his energy and personality, and his lively discussions, but cannot take away his commitment and creativity. He was full of ideas and vision for the strength and advancement of Africa and Pan-African ideals. We continue to be inspired by our interaction with him. Whether you knew him for a few minutes, a few weeks or a few years, you will have gained something from the encounter that you can use and build on ..." Ngugi wa Mirii is survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters and a grand-daughter, and by his extended family and friends.
